Abstract

"Electronic commerce" is a global phenomenon that is revolutionizing business processes across every industry. The widespread use of this catch-phrase has created the general impression that electronic commerce comes in a box - "plug-n-play." In reality, using electronic commerce is the implementation of a strategic business solution, involving the products and services that enable the automation and management of the supply chain in a trading community.

As electronic commerce emerges as the way of doing business, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to seek electronic commerce solutions in order to maintain their existing market share and to expand their customer network. The presentation will cover electronic commerce as a strategy for business and describe specific case studies of solutions in the utility and reciprocal trade industry.
