Seminar Abstract
Health information technology is a cornerstone of healthcare
renewal in Canada. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) brings tangible
benefits to patients and health care providers which will help improve
the safety, productivity, accessibility and quality of our health care
system. Accelerating the development of the interoperable EHR across
Canada requires not only significant investment, but also
collaboration with government, health authorities, health care
professionals, technology providers and patients. This presentation
will focus on the significant progress being made across the country
and the challenges that lie ahead, as Infoway moves towards a goal of
having 50% of the population benefit from EHRs by the end of 2009.
