UW Breakfast Launches infraNET Project

President Jim Downey of the University of Waterloo hosted a breakfast meeting on December 9, 1996 to announce the launching the infraNET Project. Over 35 people from local companies and the University, who share an research interest in the Internet and the world-wide web, were in attendance. The Founding Partners of the project are: LivePage (now part of Siebel), MKS Inc., Open Text Corp., RIM Ltd., Sybase Inc. (Waterloo) and Waterloo Maple Inc. The ad hoc organizing committee of the infraNET Project presented information about the project, describing some of the initiatives already underway. An experimental web site was demonstrated.
